Michelle A. Digman, Ph.D., is a William J. Link Chair and Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), where she also serves as the Acting Director of the Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics. With an extensive background in advanced optical microscopy and quantitative imaging, her research focuses on developing innovative fluorescence-based methodologies to study cell dynamics, metabolism, and structural biology. Dr. Digman has over 20 years of experience in academia and research, holding joint appointments in Chemical Engineering and Developmental & Cell Biology. She has received numerous accolades, including the AIMBE Fellow recognition and the NSF CAREER Award. Dr. Digman is actively involved in fostering diversity in STEM as the Stacey Nicholas Endowed Chair for Diversity in Engineering. She has contributed to over 200 peer-reviewed publications and holds several patents related to advanced imaging techniques. Her work has garnered significant support from NIH, NSF, and private industry.
