Hironori Nakao
Professor, High Energy Accelerator Research Organisation, Japan
Prof. Hironori Nakao completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Tokyo in 1999. He served as an Assistant Professor (1999-2001) at the Photon Factory, Institute of Materials Structure Science, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization. He then held the position of Assistant Professor (2002-2009) in the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science and Faculty of Science, Tohoku University. From 2009 to 2024, he was an Associate Professor at Photon Factory, Institute of Materials Structure Science, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, and he currently holds his present position.
His main research focus is on strongly correlated electron systems, where strong correlations among orbital, charge, and spin degrees of freedom play crucial roles. The study of these electronic states is essential for understanding the underlying phenomena at the microscopic level. Resonant X-ray scattering (RXS) is a powerful technique for observing the spatial ordering of such electronic states. He has been utilizing and developing this technique for many years, and his recent research has expanded into the soft X-ray region.
