Errin Johnson

Bio EM Section Manager, Sydney Microscopy & Microanalysis, The University of Sydney, Australia

Errin manages the biological EM section at Sydney Microscopy & Microanalysis (SMM) at the University of Sydney. Her background includes post-doctoral research in plant cell biology at the Umeå Plant Science Centre in Sweden and several years as a microscopist with SMM before moving to Oxford, where she headed the Dunn School EM Facility at the University of Oxford from 2012 to 2024. During that time Errin significantly upgraded and expanded the EM Facility, whilst collaborating on a diverse range of research projects spanning the areas of biophysics, structural biology, microbiology, cell biology, plant biology, engineering and biomedicine. Errin is actively involved in the volume EM community and is a specialist in biological specimen preparation for EM, with particular research interests in the optimisation of sample preparation workflows for volume EM, correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) and microanalysis of biological samples.
