Associate Professor Chittanon Buranachai

Associate Professor, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand

Assoc. Prof. Chittanon Buranachai is from the Physics Program, Division of Physical Science, Faculty of Science, and a member of the Center of Excellence for Trace Analysis and Biosensor, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai, Songkhla, Thailand. He earned his Ph.D. in Biophysics and Computational Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA. under a guidance from Professor Robert Clegg, Professor Taekjip Ha, and Professor Enrico Gratton.  Currently, his research team is focusing on the development of DNA-based fluorescent biosensors and portable fluorescence detection devices for onsite applications, such as medical screening and forensic photography. Some research outputs from his group were recognized by Thailand’s National Invention Awards. His group collaborates with researchers across various fields aiming to apply their experience in fluorescence spectroscopy and optical sensor development to solve real world problems. His team is also developing an advanced fluorescence microscope facility for medical science and life science at the Faculty of Science, PSU supported by the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT).
