Postdoctoral Researcher, Max Born Institute, Germany
Tim A. Butcher is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Born Institute (Berlin, Germany) in the Imaging and Coherent X-rays Department. His research focuses on coherent diffractive imaging techniques with soft X-rays and their application for the study of magnetic nanomaterials. During his previous postdoc in the Microspectroscopy Group at the Swiss Light Source (Paul Scherrer Institut, Switzerland), he worked on the development of soft X-ray ptychography and the new SOPHIE endstation. He obtained a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and TU Dresden (Germany), respectively. Throughout his master studies, he was active as a research assistant at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). After this, he completed a PhD in physics in the Magnetism & Spin Electronics group at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).
