Sarah Ellis
Sarah Ellis is the head of the Centre for Imaging the Tumour Environment (CITE) at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute in Victoria, Australia.
CITE is an open-access facility and houses state-of-the-art microscopes for investigating the complex interactions between immune cells and tumours. Sarah completed her PhD, which identified cells and extracellular matrix molecules regulating haematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow niche, in 2011 at the University of Melbourne. She subsequently received peer-reviewed grant funding to pursue studies on the role of polarity proteins in hematopoietic malignancies. She has over 35 years’ experience in histology, optical microscopy, electron microscopy and image analysis. Sarah contributes to the scientific community through multiple voluntary roles and is currently the Secretary of the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Society and the Victorian Representative for Light Microscopy Australia.
