Laure Bourgeois is a Professor and Joint Deputy Director of the Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy. She is also affiliated with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Monash University. Her main research interest is the application of advanced transmission electron microscopy techniques for the structural characterisation of inorganic materials, with emphasis on nanoscale, aperiodic and defective structures. Her work currently focuses on solid-solid phase transformations in light metals, and in particular the early stages of solid-state precipitation.
