Dylan Owen

Professor, University of Birmingham, UK

Dylan Owen completed degree in Physics in 2004 and his PhD at Imperial College in 2008 and undertook a post-doc at the University of New South Wales under the late Prof. Katharina Gaus. In 2013, he established his own group at King’s College London and in 2019 moved to the University of Birmingham, joint between the Department of Immunology and the School of Mathematics. His research has 3 layers: 1st, the development of new microscopy methods especially focussing on new data analytics for single-molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM). 2nd, the study of membrane biophysics – especially the nanoscale organisation of the cell plasma membrane, and 3rd, to study the role of protein organisation in regulating T cell signalling to better understand the immune systems response in infectious and autoimmune diseases.
