Bursaries

Each CAPSM society provide their own bursaries to help delegates make attending APMC 2025 more affordable. Should you wish to be considered for a bursary, please select the society from the dropdown menu and follow the instructions for applying.

  • AMMS bursaries for the 13th Asia Pacific Microscopy Congress (APMC13) in Brisbane Feb 2-7 2025

    We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the 13th Asia Pacific Microscopy Congress (APMC13) travel bursaries offered by the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Society (AMMS), from all Facility and Industry staff (both technical and academic) and researchers who are current AMMS members. Applicants are encouraged to be presenting authors of talks, posters or to be involved in delivering a workshop at the APMC13 conference in Brisbane 3-7 Feb 2025. Bursaries will be awarded based on the scientific quality of the abstract (if submitted), workshop involvement and/ the applicant’s track record (i.e., employment history or publication record) as appropriate. The selection committee may give priority to research higher degree students (RHDS), early career researchers (ECR) (within 5 years of being awarded their PhD at time of conference), junior technical staff (JTS) (within 5 years of commencing employment in this role at time of conference) and MCRs (within 5-15 years of being awarded their PhD at time of conference), particularly where the applicant has indicated that they have no other source of funds or supporting funds. In addition, the selection committee will endeavour to select awardees equally based on gender, ethnicity and their affiliation with the various AMMS Special Interest Groups (SIG).

    Approximately 30 bursaries will be awarded to cover the cost of a regular early-bird registration and partially cover travel and/or accommodation costs for interstate/international delegates. A sliding scale will be applied depending on location of your institution, with the bursary covering the registration fee plus up to AU$500.

    How to Apply & Who is Eligible:

    All applicants must be financial members of AMMS at the time of the application (2024) and time of the conference (2025). If you are not currently a member you will need to join before sending in your bursary application. You can do that by completing the online membership form on the AMMS web site (https://microscopy.org.au).

    To be eligible for a bursary you must register for APMC13 before the early bird registration deadline (13th November 2024). If you can submit an abstract as presenting author, please do this through the conference web site (https://www.apmc13-2025.org/) before the submission date (2nd November 2024).

    To apply for a bursary, you must submit the following information to the AMMS Secretary by Friday November 15th, 2024:

    1. A cover letter to clarify your status with proof that you meet the criteria for an AMMS bursary (all status must be correct at the time of the conference) and the reason for the bursary application

    2. A 2-page CV, including:

      a. Contact Details
      b. Educational Background
      c. Employment History

    1. A copy of the abstract or workshop outline submitted (or to be submitted) to APMC13, as appropriate. 

    2. A letter of support from your supervisor and/or manager.

    Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 4th December 2024. To receive your bursary, you will be required to provide a copy of their registration and travel invoices, and suitable bank details to the AMMS Treasurer during the conference (Feb 2-7 2025) or after the conference for reimbursement.

  • We are pleased to announce four travel bursaries offered by the Committee of Asia Pacific Societies for Microscopy.

    Applicants are encouraged to be presenting authors of talks or posters at APMC13. Bursaries will be awarded based on the scientific quality of the abstract and financial need for the bursary .

    The selection committee will give priority to research higher degree students (RHDS), early career researchers (ECR) (within 5 years of being awarded their PhD at time of conference), junior technical staff (JTS) (within 5 years of commencing employment in this role at time of conference) particularly where the applicant has indicated that they have no other source of funds or supporting funds. In addition, the selection committee will endeavour to select awardees equally based on gender, ethnicity and their affiliation with the various CAPSM country of origin.

    Four bursaries will be awarded to cover the cost of a regular early-bird registration and partially cover travel and/or accommodation costs. The total bursary amount will be USD $1,000.

    How to Apply & Who is Eligible:

    All applicants must be from member/associated members societies of CAPSM (see CAPSM.org for details).

    Application deadline is the 22nd of September 2024

    To apply for a bursary, you must submit the following information to the AMMS Secretary (secretary@capsm.org) by Friday September 22nd, 2024:

    1. A cover letter to clarify your status with proof that you meet the criteria for an AMMS bursary (all status must be correct at the time of the conference) and the reason for the bursary application

    2. A 2-page CV

    3. A copy of the abstract or workshop outline submitted (or to be submitted) to APMC13, as appropriate.

    4. A letter of support from your supervisor/manager.

    Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 30th of September 2024. To receive your bursary, you will be required to provide a copy of your registration and travel invoices, and suitable bank details to the Treasurer of CAPSM during the conference (Feb 2-7 2025) or after the conference for reimbursement.
